Tupac Shakur has always been prominent even decades after his demise which a lot of people think has not happened.
If he were alive, he has kept himself well hidden from the public eye. Now, Tupac had some unreleased songs which Eminem got to know about.
He was inspired by the music and asked Tupac’s mother Afeni Shakur if he could release Tupac’s songs which she agreed to.
The album was later produced as ‘Loyal to the Game’ on 14th December 2004 which had a song called ‘Don’t You Trust Me’ which happens to be one of my favorite songs by Tupac.
The song was written by Tupac before his death in 1996 and had contributions by Eminem, Big D The Impossible, Dido, Luis Resto, Mark Bates and Richard Knowles.
Song Meaning and Explanation
The song lyrics make it clear from the very start that Tupac is dealing with problems in his relationship.
Tupac being the star that he was, had his partner uncomfortable with all the attention he got from other women. It started to take a toll on their relationship with her being insecure of his whereabouts.
His lyrics paste a very vivid description of what he was going through during the relationship. The lack of trust his partner has on him left him no breathing space and the relationship was starting to feel like a prison.
He talks about how things were beautiful in the beginning, but those times have passed and he wants to part ways.
From the looks of it, it seems like Tupac was trapped in with a manipulator who was persistently trying to make him feel guilty for petty reasons.
Now, Tupac had had several relationships. He got married to Keisha Morris in prison. He was linked to the likes of Jada Smith and Madonna along with several others.
I am not sure as to who Tupac wrote this song about, it could be Keisha Morris since she was his wife and with whom the marriage failed.
