Joshua Scott Chasez was one of the lead singers of the popular boy band called NSYNC along with Justin Timberlake. NSYNC has produced some really great tracks like ‘Bye Bye Bye’, ‘Its Gonna Be Me’ etc and they were a really popular boy band in the 1990s. While a lot of people feel that Chasez was more talented than Justin including Justin himself his career as a solo artist didn’t really work. Meanwhile Justin went on to produce more records and became a highly successful solo artist.
In my opinion, [JC] had the best voice out of all of us…Out of all the boy bands, call ’em what you will, he was the one that could out-sing all of us. And I’ve known him since I was 12, so it was fun to sit behind the board and push him.

So what really happened to his career?
NSYNC decided to take a hiatus in 2002 after the Celebrity Tour and they never really produced music after that. JC was working as a solo artist and producer. He produced a track called ‘Blowin Me Up(With Her Love)’ which was his first solo single. He also worked on producing an album with Jive Records which was scheduled to release in 2003. His debut album ‘Schizofrenic’ was released after several delays in 2004.
JC was supposed to perform at the Super Bowl half time show in 2004 but he was dropped from the schedule because of Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show controversy.
NSYNC did not formally break up but the members stated that they had no plans of recording new music or tour and that the band was pretty much done.
He later began working on his second album ‘The Story of Kate’ with Jive Records which featured productions from Justin Timberlake(his former NSYNC mate), Timbaland, Dallas Austin, Jimmy Harry, and Emanuel Kiriakou.
Well, its kind of hard to tell as to why he didn’t succeed. A major reason could be that his age(he is about 5 years older than Justin). He was also not given any major platform through which he could evolve in his music career. I do like his performances when he was part of NSYNC, but he didn’t really impress me much with his solo performances. Record labels probably didn’t want to invest in him after his first album sank.
As of now, he still works as a song writer and producer and has written songs for David Archuleta, Matthew Morrison and Backstreet Boys, Taemin, Liz, and NU’EST. He even appeared in a movie called ‘Opening Night’ where he played a version of himself.
