Phantogram is an American music duo consisting of vocalists and multi instrumentalists named Sarah Barthel and Josh Carter from Greenwich, New York. The group was formed in 2007 and I believe they produced their major hit songs during the time period from 2010-2015.
Phantogram: Music Review
I came across one of their songs called ‘Black Out Days’ which is among their most popular songs. In my opinion it is actually the best song that I have heard from them till now. They have other hit songs like ‘Fall In Love’, ‘You Don’t Get Me High Anymore’, ‘When I’m Small’ etc.
Personally, I am not very fond of their other songs but ‘Black Out Days’ really speaks a lot to me.
The song begins with a mesmerizing synth riff, followed by Sarah Barthel’s ethereal vocals. The lyrics of “Black Out Days” are introspective and emotional, dealing with the pain and confusion of heartbreak. The chorus is especially powerful, with Barthel’s voice rising to a crescendo as she repeats the haunting line “I wanna know who you are.”
The production on “Black Out Days” is top-notch, with intricate layers of electronic beats and synths creating a dense and textured sonic landscape. The interplay between Barthel’s vocals and Josh Carter’s guitar work is also noteworthy, adding a human element to the track.
Overall, “Black Out Days” is a standout track in Phantogram’s discography and an essential listen for fans of electronic and alternative music. The song’s brooding atmosphere and introspective lyrics make it a perfect choice for a late-night drive or a contemplative moment alone.
They still upload videos and music content on their channel but its not as often as some people might expect them too. Nevertheless, a great music group.
